Yes. But even if he wasn't Brad Pitt and George Clooney were.

Disappointing. Happy about Streep but disappointed about Clooney.

I will probably never even watch The Artist. It doesn't really interest me.

Having seen all five of the performances for Best Actor, I think Dujardin had the best followed only very closely by Gary Oldman. In reality, I would say Michael Fassbender (Shame) and Ryan Gosling (Drive) both delivered far strong performances.

Why? What's so magical about a black and white silent film? If I want to I can lean down pick up my copies of Phantom of the Opera or Metropolis and it be a hundred times better than anything the Artist ever gave us.

Meryl Streep might have been considered a surprise back in January, but after a Golden Globe and BAFTA win, the race became a lot tighter. It wasn't much of an upset, really. I still had Viola locked in, but given how things started moving these latter few weeks it seemed like Meryl Streep was the favorite.

I didn't think it was as amazing or deserving of best picture (I maintain that Harry Potter 7.2 was the best movie of the year, but if not that then Drive). That said it was a really good movie and the performances are nothing short of awesome.

I thought Harry Potter 7.2 was only ok. Part 1 was a lot stronger, IMO.

It has the pretentiousness that the Academy loves.
