Like I said before, DC screwed up with not pushing Levitz to make some major tweaks to the team post-Flashpoint. The team could have easily de-aged without any serious damage done to continuity. I pretty sure you could compress Legion history within a 5-yr. window. The Adventure run could easily fit in about a one or two year period, the same goes for the 70's & 80's eras.
Having a team that's closer to college age than the late-20's/early 30's is probably the best range for the team. Legionaries should never be older than Superman, which sadly a few of them are now.
As for stories, they could use a little more variation than the Dominators seemingly popping up every month (like Levitz has pretty much said is going to be happening). It would be cool if there were more stories set on worlds that resemble varying forms of SF & Fantasy. You could have steampunk worlds, post-apocalyptic worlds, etc.
