Coming in May, DC COMICS-THE NEW 52 "Second Wave" will literally expand the world-building efforts of the comprehensive publishing initiative. With the addition of a parallel Earth that features prominently into both EARTH 2 and WORLDS' FINEST, the developing narrative will encompass new heroes from distinctly different backgrounds, building on the shared universe in some surprising ways.

From Josh Kushins at DC's Blog,

"Due the events that open the saga of EARTH 2, Wonder Woman is already the last Amazon of this world and she is determined to avenge her sisters...at whatever cost," said EARTH 2 writer James Robinson.

"How did Wonder Woman come to be the last of the Amazons?" asks EARTH 2 editor Pat McCallum. "It's one of the mysteries we'll be getting into with the series. While there will be recognizable faces and settings on EARTH 2, don't for a moment think you're on familiar ground. Do that, and you let your guard down...and then you'll end up like the rest of the Amazons."

Wonder if Darkseid wiped out the amazons ? Previous teasers have suggested that the Earth-2 heroes have already battled Darkseid's forces. And this week's JL #6 Superman says he saw visions of a multiverse.

Notice how so far, the Earth-2 talk has centered on the E-2 Supes/Bats/WW and not on the characters that anyone really gives a darn about like Jay, Alan, or Wildcat?

DC missing the point, as usual.

DC missing the point, as usual.

Or this is their way to redefine what earth two is. While I agree that it should be more society focused, and it still could be just that, I think this is could be a more generational heroes of all we know.

I get that, the absence of Jay and the rest of the regular JSA crew is just a little conspicuous.

I certainly can my statement. What made the JSA popular to fans who weren't familiar with the golden age probably had more to do with the fact that except for the Big Three, the team weren't mere doppelgangers for the JLA crew. Jay, and Alan were different from Barry and Hal. And there were these other, heroes like Wildcat and Dr. Fate who didn't have E-1 versions of themselves. That's what made E-2 unique.

If E-2 was just older versions of the same characters, it wouldn't have captured the imagination of fans.

I rolled my eyes because I don't get these anti-DC rants without knowing all the facts yet. You have no idea what the new Earth-2 book is really about yet, do you ? Or do you have some secret insider information that hasn't been released yet ? If so, please share.
Yes, so far the designs we've seen have been centered around the Big 3 but that's all that we've seen so far. There could be, and probably are, more to come, featuring other JSAers seeing as how some teasers have already told us this book is about that Earth's JSA.
