My last gf was my best friend, we were together for 4 years and lived together for 3 of those. What is difficult is when things fall apart and those negative feelings start, what good is a "best friend" you can't talk to? I can't bitch to her about how she treated me or how ugly her new boyfriend is or whatever. Its like putting all your eggs in one basket, better to keep them separated.

My wife was my best friend before we started dating and got married and now she is still my best friend, well except for my 5 year old son he is my best buddy.

I hurd that.

However, do you think there is a point where you cease to be a dude that will be in the trenches, and instead, would rather face fate with the woman you love, aka. your best friend?
