Bababooey! Bababooey! Howard Stern's penis!

Lithium was great, too.

I cancelled my Sirius, though. Eh.

I can understand that. Unless your tastes in music are wide-ranging enough so as not to fit on more than one or two channels, it might not be worth the price.

I listen to 60's on 6, 1st Wave, AltNation, and Underground Garage, mostly. Most of the Octane stuff bores me, so I don't listen to that much.

The fact that I live in a part of the metro ATL that makes listening to AM and some FM stations difficult to pick up, being able to listen to some Talk radio formats is a bonus reason to keep SiriusXM.

I dropped Sirius for two reasons:

1) While their playlist selection is a lot longer than regular radio, as someone who listens to music ALL THE TIME, I got sick of hearing the same songs over and over and over again on the channels. Sure, I would flip around and listen to different stations, but they all played a limited set list (that, as I said, is much bigger than regular radio, but not big enough for an insatiable consumer of music like me)

2) Their equipment was crap and customer support sucked. I went through two boomboxes, both of which crapped out on me within less than a year, and both times customer service told me to suck it, because I didn't retain my reciept.

I have an iPod with over 15,000 songs, and that's basically all I need to keep me musically satisfied. If I hit play on my ipod and never stopped it, I would be listening to music for over 4 months before I heard a repeat.

If I were just listening to S/XM for music, I'd probably do that. Being able to hear talk radio that I can't get in the ATL market (at least not on a clear enough station) keeps me subscribing as much as the music does.

Yes, that is a good point, one that I forgot to make in my post. If you are a fan of talk radio, and/or enjoy the banter of the DJs, then Sirius radio is awesome. I, however, can't stand talk radio. Oh, and I forgot my third reason for dropping Sirius--the fact that they were playing commercials more and more during regular programming. The main reason why I paid for Sirius was so that I wouldn't be subjected to inane radio advertisements. The second reason I joined Sirius was for Stern (the only talk radio I liked), but I got bored of him, and the commercials were more prevalent on his channel than anywhere else. It really pissed me off.

Most of the main music stations seem to be free commercial free, as much as I can tell. The ones that have commercials seem to be the Clear-Channel owned stations that are simulcast on S/XM.

I can see S/XM becoming more of an app as time goes by. Especially if things like boomboxes or home stereos become more internet-friendly.

The music channels are commercial free but I wish Madison on 1st Wave would shut the fuck up.

OutQ in the early days would have commercials which touted "Hot Gay Action." Derek and Romaine still laugh about that.

I think that the biggest mistake Sirius has made was not working with the major electronic manufacturers to make products that could pick up the service without the need for extra equipment. I had to shill out about $50 extra bucks for a home antenna and adapter for my receiver.

I've been trying to listen to O&A but it seems like I hear nothing but commercials for the whole ride home. I probably won't keep this and will just go back to getting O&A via podcast.
