Well, the reddit thread is a rebuttal of Invisible Children and discusses the poor legislation the group is trying to push through, but yeah, it's everywhere.

Joseph Kony (born 18 September 1964[4] in Odek, Uganda[1]) is a Ugandan guerrilla group leader, head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a group engaged in a violent campaign to establish theocratic government based on the Ten Commandments throughout Uganda.

Essentially, he kidnaps kids, makes the girls sex slaves and makes the boys join his army. He also gets them to kill their parents.

I have my cynical responses to this too, but whatever the case may be, the cause is right.

Kony is also the counter argument whenever someone says "Muslims are violent. You don't see Christian terrorists/treating women like this."
