And if you can't fathom why people, especially veterans, would be upset about this then I don't know what to tell you. The flag means something, it represents something. Maybe that varies from person to person, but I doubt many veterans like to think that they served for any man or any government, but an ideal that flag represents to them.
From the way you're carrying on I imagine you'd use the funeral flags for serviceman for toilet paper, cause it's just cloth.
Yeah, I was wrong about who started the thread. My bad. Still...
Sure, they can get pissed off all they want. And I don't blame them for being pissed. I'd probably be irked too, if I was in their shoes. Just like people can get pissed off at the huge Confederate Flag I saw flying while I was driving through Florida. Or the neo-nazi groups who wave Nazi flags as they march through town. Or Christian groups who have 50 crosses instead of stars on an American flag. But at the end of the day, it's a piece of cloth, not some holy relic with magical powers. I mean, they make American flag speedos for petes sake. Where's the outrage? WHERE IS FOX NEWS TO CONFRONT SUCH AN ATROCITY????
And if you own the flag, you should be able to do whatever you want with it. It's your personal property (I would not wipe my ass with a funeral flag since its not my personal property). As long as you're not harming somebody with it, I think it's a huge infringement of the government on a person's personal liberties to fine or arrest anybody for it. I find it particularly amusing that certain people here who so vigilantly uphold Conservative or Libertarian "values" think otherwise.
Furthermore, I would not wipe my ass with an American flag because I do respect it as symbol (I'm a little offended you would suggest such a thing). I do not believe in enforcing that view on other people, however.
