Brubaker's run was mediocre to start out with and never got better.

Remender's run so far has been great, though.

I loved the Warren Ellis stuff

I know they are produced by non-Big 2 comic companies, but I don't really think of GI Joe and Transformers as "Indie" titles. If I were to tell J.M. Hunter that I had switched to Independant books and then listed off my Transformers books, he would yell at me through the internet as say I wasn't hard core enough or something. It has to be black and white and scratched on slightly used toilet paper to truly be an Indie comic, I suspect.

So what do you call them then when they aren't produced by the big two? Regardless, you know what you should buy come April.. the greatest crossover EVER in comics...

I support Zechs with this statement.

If you are giving Transformers a shake, you should look at Gi Joe; Larry Hama is back on GI Joe.

I don't actually like GIJoe as much as Transformers. Transformers was the first comic I can remember reading and it's one of the last comics I STOP reading when that kind of thing becomes necessary. Usually, when I can only buy four or five comics, it'll be Transformers and X-Titles. Since I'm burned out on Marvel (for the moment), it's just Transformers (and Avengers because I have a subscription).

Though I DID recently reread the first issue of GIJoe. It was a free read on ComiXology and I was amazed at how good it was. The thing was a self contained story with actual action choreography! It got all of the introductions out of the way without feeling forced. There was definitely some meat on it's bones and I can tell why this was one of Marvel's top selling books for it's time. Sure, it had a bit of cheese mixed in but sometimes that just makes a better meal.
