Whomever was in charge of the marketing and trailers should be shot.

Instead of attempting to convey the richness and depth of the film, they pawned it off as an actioner with one liners.

Hopefully this movie makes a little money and these guys get a shot at another. And unlike Green Lantern, you can really see where the moner went in this film. It does an amazing job of not only creating a great world of the 1860's, but of a fully realized Mars.

Jon Salwen is good

the marketing and the title of this movie suck

I think it killed the movie before it ever had a chance

I think it could have gotten past the title, if the marketing campaign was more clear.

The main trailer for this film really didn't say anything. We know a guy ends up on Mars, but there seems to be humans there as well, so what's the big deal?

Just piss poor trailers.

This movie was better than the Prequels.

It was better than the Transformers movies.

And it was better than Avatar, depending on your tastes.

Just a really fun film that created a very cool world.

I agree,but John Carter is horrid title,why not just call it worldlord of mars?
that sounds fucking awesome and it tells you immediately what the movie's about

I think TPTB would not let him.

He mentioned the only concession he got was in the JCM logo (M = Mars).

He/him = Stanton

Well, he made a good film. It's a shame it may not reflect in the box office.

I really enjoyed this movie, it was fun.

I read an interesting point about the humor in the movie too, unlike a lot of blockbusters which use topical humor or pop culture references, this one created it's own comedy and as such should endure a lot longer than something like transformers.

My last bowel movement was better than avatar so that's not much a bar John.

Simply this is the best blockbuster in years that isn't a comic book property or inception.

It had fantastic visual effects.

An okay story which Cameron dragged out for 2.5 hours and a horrible ending.

Cameron knows pacing though and that final battle was impecably choreagraphed.

JC's final battle didn't really feel epic. There's never that feeling of complete hopelessness before triumph that Cameron does so well.
