What she is doing is stupid. She pour bleach into a bowl a leaves it out, saying it helps disinfects the house, I say she is slowly killing us.

Bleach only works when you apply it to something.
The fumes are bad for you.

Usually if you leave a bowl of vinegar it'll purge a smell. We used to do that all the time.
