To this day I'll never get the hate for season 4 of Angel.

Benderbrau: Greg: Unwrapping the riddles of the black man since 2006
Starlord: I swear if you were gay and I wasn't married we'd make the perfect fuck buddies.
Greg: I'd do many things. Coke is not one of them.
Benderbrau: Greg hates all things white.
Benderbrau: Emma, you could learn a thing or two from Greg. Greg does threesomes. That's bi done right.

The problems with season four are twofold. First, they tried to do too much. There's enough material in it, if properly developed, to cover two or three seasons. Things are just crammed in to the point that its harder than usual to connect. Second, there was a lot of criticisms about people behaving out of character--in ways that moved things forward, but weren't properly developed.
Oh, and I liked season one, too.

Like David Bird said. They crammed too much into the season. You have Angel recovering from Conner burying him alive, Lilah taking over W&H, the Beast making his debut, the Beast laying siege to W&H, Angel becoming Angelus, and Cordy being revealed to be evil while killing Lilah. That's just the first twelve freaking episodes.
There's too much going on and not enough time to register this all. One minute you got one big bad. Then the other second you have another. It's like S6 of 24. They crammed so much in those episodes that they blew their wad and didn't have anything left to resonate with the viewer. Add horrible character moments and that's why people hate both seasons of both shows. I mean yeah it's better than most tv, but still S4 was the worse.

Jasmine and
, but that's what I've heard, I never minded it. I love the ending.

You might want to black out much of that first paragraph as some here haven't seen it yet.

I think we can stop worrying about spoilers 7 years after the series goes off the air, 8 after that season.

This thread is about someone, Rockman I guess, that haven't seen it. He is currently watching Buffy S4 and Angel S1, so it would be nice to spoil as little as posible.

Hush was a really good episode. I liked it a lot.
I was a bit bummed that the initiative played into it so much though. Riley is an okay character, but I won't be sad if he dies or something.

I'm at about the half way point in season 5, much better than season 4. Every episode is on the mark, and aside from the Riley being a junkie thing there hasn't been any cringe worthy stuff.
I liked the way they did Dawn, it's such a cheap move generally but they really pulled the whole thing off well.
Willow is becoming pretty unlikeable to me though, there was this one episode where she was a totally brat towards Anya for no discernable reason. Then the explanation they gave was really weak.
Oh and I don't care for Tara too much, Oz was a better funnier character, not a stuttering boring character.

Tara will grow on you, I think. As for Willow, just wait - she has some interesting stuff coming up, especially in season six.

Agreed. Season six is hated but I LOVED IT, not as much as season five but still. Tara is fantastic the stuff with her family was great (plus Amy Adams makes a rare tv appearance). Family is one of the most underrated episodes because, IMHO, the stuff with Dawn, Glory, Joyce, and Ben kinda takes over. Plus Spike is awesome at the end.

Near the end of Angel season 2. Didn't like it compared to season 1. Too much time spent on Angel's obsession with Wolfram and Hart, which was totally boring and frustrating. Now however it seems to be back on track.
On like episode 5 of season 6 of Buffy. All the episodes of been okay, but there are some weak things going on. LIke the three nerds being some of the big bads for the season, really not digging that at this point. Especially after the season 4 Jonathon episode where he gave up fame and fortune to do the right thing, just seems odd.
Season 5 as a whole was fantastic. The best of the show aside from season 3, but it is a very close race.
So far I'd say
