WonderCon 2012: Avengers Vs. X-Men Panel

Postby LOLtron » Sat Mar 17, 2012 5:45 pm

WonderCon 2012: Avengers Vs. X-Men PanelJeph Loeb and Tom Brevoort hosted the Avengers vs. X-Men Panel at WonderCon 2012, talking about Marvel's biggest event of the year.

No spoiler-y news was dropped about the event, but some lucky folks were given a chance to read issues 0 and 1 during the panel.

The panel started with talk of Avengers: X-Sanction #4 which will be on sale next week, which led into discussion about AVX #0 (released March 28) by Brian BEndis, Jason Aaron, and Frank Cho. That issue will be focused on the Scarlet Witch and Hope.

Avengers Vs. X-Men: VS, the event's only real dedicated tie-in  book, was also covered. This series was described as "all fighting, all the time" by Brevoort.

As mentioned in the House of Ideas panel at WonderCon, teh first Infinite Comic story will be tied to this event. AVX #1 the Infinite Comic, will be available for free if you buy Avengers Vs. X-Men #1 (or $.99 otherwise). The AR aspects of Avengers Vs. X-Men was again mentioned.

John Romita Jr, Oliver Copiel, and Adam Kubert are the artists on Avengers vs. X-Men.

The Generation Hope kids will be in Avengers Academy as the title ties in the event for issues #31 and #32.

The floor was opened to questions. A fan asked about what the villains would be doing during all of this. Brevoort said that some would be standing aside in fear, while others will be doing "bad things" and taking advamtage of the situation.

They also said we'd see other parts of the Marvel Universe such as what's going on in the Kree and Shi'Ar  parts of the galaxy. However, it was noted that the Dark Avengers and Young Avengers will not be in event.

The origins of Avengers Vs. X-Men date back 7 or 8 years. Brevoort says about Cyclops: "(he) will be relentless and unswerving in fighting for what he believes is the greater good. That will put him against the Avengers. Is that right or wrong? We'll see."

A fan asked if there could be an animated series of Avengers Vs. X-Men, to which Loeb said "yes, it could be."
