Well the lesser gravity = super strength and leaping tall buildings did inspire Siegel and Shuster.

The movie does a good job of creating a credible threat, and there is an attempt to make the final battle seem hopeless, but it just doesn't come across.

It had fantastic visual effects.
An okay story which Cameron dragged out for 2.5 hours and a horrible ending.
This is exactly what I said when it came out.

Book was the same, the bad guys had endings which were one sentence finishers. Like they build up this bad guy and two sentences into the confrontation it's like, 'So i killed him'...i was like, really?

it's going to lose 200 million.
I wonder what this means for Stanton and Kitsch?
Kitsch never struck me as a leading man anyway.. this and Battleship should sink him right away.
Stanton always has a future with Pixar, IMO.. but it's going to be a tough sell giving him another massive property, and so much power, again.

That's too bad, because he did a solid job here. Just saw it Sunday and loved it. If any execs actually watch it and judge it as a movie, then his reputation should stay intact. If they only look at the budget sheets, he'll be in trouble. But then, a ton of directors keep going after busting budgets or creating bombs.

They'll be fine. People in the position to hire them will judge them on their work and realize were the problems with the B.O. returns lay.
Good product, poorly sold.

Damn shame.

When a man lies, he murders some part of the world.

I think Disney may be exaggerating the loss a bit. They're definitely putting it out there quick to put the stock dip behind them as soon and as quickly as possible.
This way the dust will have cleared in time for a rise from The Avengers.

I hope so, because it's a shame. Sadly, I think the budget was too much for an unproven concept, but the same could be said for Avatar.
It was a good movie and it's too bad it didn't find an audience.
