A pretty satisfying end to the big Norman Osborn story, although it’s a bit of a shame that this came out before New Avengers #23, which seemingly takes place beforehand. I liked that the secret of Norman’s powers was Adaptoid, because it made sense with Bendis’ run on the title going all the way back to the beginning of New Avengers, such as in the first annual where Yelena Belova became an Adaptoid and attacked the Cage/Jones wedding. And also, Norman became a purple Hulk! That was kind of awesome in a stupid way. I will say that the way he was defeated was a bit obvious and it happened in a rather underwhelming way, but he’ll be back and it did finally give Noh-Varr something to do. And of course, even though Norman was physically beaten, he still won in some ways, as Captain America’s scene with President Obama showed. Norman exposed some uncomfortable truths about the Avengers and has changed public perception of the team, and that’s going to last. Next up is a Vision spotlight issue, should be fun.
