The xenomorph takes on some characteristics of the host body, so it's possible will differ greatly from the iteration we saw in the first Alien movie.

I honestly cant remember anything about the Alien movies other then those awful AvP films. I wasnt really excited about this movie until this trailer, now I'm totally in! This is gonna be awesome.

I may go back and watch all the alien films. I know I've seen them all but its been at least 10 years, other then the AvP ones.

I keep seeing the theory that Fassbender's android character, David, will be the first xenomorph and that he mutates via that goo he touches from the canister.

Dunno if it's right, but I'm seeing that theory everywhere. Clearly, there's some mutation going on, because we've seen several glimpses of it in the trailers now.. even the opening scene in this one shows what I'm assuming is a Space Jockey seemingly mutating, with veins popping and stuff.

I would think that somewhere along the way, a Queen will need to be born. Otherwise, there will be no eggs laid.

I think it'll be Noomi's character who'll be the first Alien host and be the one that gives birth to the Xenomorph race. Fassbender's android will probably be the one who manipulates her to get mutated to this extreme.
