Well, I believe the issue here is that Ridley Scott is using a very specific definition of "prequel" when he is saying what Prometheus isn't, or what it became that he feels transcends the idea of a prequel. Or maybe he would like to avoid the stigma that the Star Wars prequels have.

I love the thought and attention to detail he puts into most of his movies, and, after all, he has to market the new film however he thinks best. He did his best work (to me) from The Duellists, Alien, to Blade Runner and I am pretty stoked that he wants to return to sci fi for a few films. So I don't care.

You may very well be right.

I guess I think of Gladiator, Black Hawk Down and Alien when I think of Ridley Scott, not a Robin Hood movie that should never have been made.

yeah my hate for prequels and sequels steams from the fact that they usual suck,if this movie's good then awesome bring on the prequels

I think it will be Fassbender's character who will be the first Xenomorph. The Xenomorphs are a bio-mechanical entity. My theory is that they start biological but by Fassbender becoming a host the Xenomorph takes on mechanical characteristics. Also, his last line in the trailer of, "big things have small beginnings", leads me to believe he's the first host. Either way, I'm fucking stoked for this. This has become my most anticipated movie of the year.

But isn't the whole thing about Aliens that once a facehugger takes say the host body attributes the Xenomorph becomes like the usual type. Hence the unique times they find something like the Pred-Alien in AvP 2? Maybe why a facehugger hasn't attached itself to an android yet when it's had two Bishops and Call running around yet they only wanted to rip them both to shreds than use them for a host.

Kinda it was filmed right around the time of X-men First Class was released. He's kinda been around for a while but they knew he was about to blow up. Then a few months ago that flick was released where he went full frontal and made all of us feel bad about ourselves.

I'm going to assume that Ridley Scott is going to ignore anything that happened in the AvP movies. I know I would.

If you go back and rewatch Alien and Aliens you will see that a live facehugger never had an opportunity to attach itself to an android. In Alien, Ash is only exposed to a facehugger after it impregnated one of the crew, fell off and then died. In Aliens, Bishop is seen studying a dead facehugger while the live ones are contained in glass tubes. The Alien Queen rips Bishop in half because she is pissed and trying to kill Ripley. As for Call, the Queen in Alien Resurrection gains the ability to reproduce without the need of an egg and facehugger due to being mixed with Ripley's DNA. Because the Queen now has a womb she no longer needs a host for her offspring.

I also don't think Fassbender will become a host via the facehugger. I think he will become a host due to the goo he is shown studying in the trailer.

Well not just AvP, Alien 3 was supposed to have the xenomorph develop those type of characteristics hence the failed alien dog concept. Plus it goes with the whole feminine theme that's gone through every single Alien movie (and in a way the AvP movies).

But I agree, Scott isn't going to give two shits for the AvP movies or even the last three Alien films. He's doing his own thing here that's linking Prometheus to Alien. Really I don't even bother with Alien 3 or Alien Resurrection. For me it ends with Aliens.

The only good character in Alien 3 was Charles Dance's and just when you were enjoying his character.. BAM he's dead. For Alien Resurrection I enjoyed the characters.. but I hate that goddamn climax and the human-xenomorph hybrid. That destroys the movie for me. I'm fully into the movie UNTIL that goddamn creature shows up. I hate that damn thing. It's sad the freaking Pred-Alien had a better freaking design than the Human-Alien.

For years,I had convinced myself that there only had been two movies in the franchise one by Scott and one by Cameron. And the only AvP story worth a damn was told in the first Dark Horse series.

Agreed. It ends at Aliens for me as well. However, I can't imagine Scott totally ignoring what happened in that film since it wasn't a total bastardization of the original Alien. I actually like Resurrection better than Alien 3. The human-xenomorph hybrid could've been so cool but they fucked it up.
