Yup. Her sudden rise at Marvel just screams of nepotism. It's too bad, because I know there are talented female writers out there somewhere, yet Gail Simone and Kelly Sue Deconnick get all the plum assignments.

Knowing something means you really know the shit out of it, don't you know?

Well, there's a lot of talented female writers I like, but they are mostly in the realm of small press comics, not wanking around with superheroes like those two names up there.

Plus we know how you feel about Gail Simone.

I think this once again proves that the problems with supposed sexism in comics isn't down to the publishers, but with the fans.

My criticisms have nothing to do with the gender of the main character or the creative team and to imply otherwise is insulting.

Agreed. My personal gripe is that the whole put another character in the guise of another character and then give them their own book is getting old now. Carol was fine as Ms. Marvel from where I stand-plus if they wanted a female Captain Marvel they could have Phylla Vel take the role like her brother Genis did.

Wouldn't it have been better if they focused on bringing back Blue Marvel instead of this? I mean there is a character who was introduced as the black anti-Sentry analogue but yet they don't really do much with him except for a few story arcs. To me if you have an omega Superman-lite character you should want to use him seeing as how badly the Sentry debacle turned out.

As much as I love the lightning bolt costumed Ms. Marvel and would have really rather had Mar-Vell back, after seeing how excited my 9 year old daughter is about this,( Ms Marvel has been her favorite hero as long as she has been looking at comics) I haveta say that I guess this might be a good idea and I hope it works out. Marvel has already lost both of my other older daughters so hopefully they don't fuck this up for her.

There you go. It's so criminal how they hype him up as a Marvel powerhouse and then they don't do anything with him for the most part. Although to be fair they didn't use Sentry until 5 years after his debut but we all know how that mess turned out. Hopefully they don't do the same to BM should some writer( That hopefully is not Bendis by the way) decide to use him. In fact, they could have used him in the Avengers/ X-Men crossover that's coming up.
