Jeff Parker takes a break from the time-travel fun for a character spotlight issue on Songbird, and it was a very strong one. And not just because of how good she looked in a bikini! We start with Melissa at the most relaxed she’s been in years, but end with her looking whatever it is that’s the opposite of relaxed, with a punky new haircut and stronger abilities. Parker doesn’t really go into too much detail about how Songbird has changed, it may very well be that she’s much the same, but for now… I’m worried she’s going to make a turn to the dark side. Doctor Dorcas did something to her brain, and that’s bad news. The scenes in Dorcas’ compound were wonderfully creepy, Kev Walker’s depiction of his starfish body was brilliant, and that scene with the little puffer fish guy slobbering all over Songbird’s toes was just so weird and unsettling. There’s 3 issues to go before this book changes over to Dark Avengers, and we’ve still got a fight between the current Tbolts and the originals, it’s exciting times for Earth’s Most Morally Ambiguous Heroes!

Yeah, this was a really good issue and I agree with you about Songbird as well.

That final page has me worried about where things are going to go for her now.

I didn't enjoy the last page. What can I say. We went from spikey Songbird which was alright until she grew her hair back out. To now mohawk Songbird.. which is. Yuck.

By the way, what the hell happened to Dr. Dorcas?

The last time I heard anything about him, he still looked like this:

You want a maid costume and eyepatch?

Of course I am a couple months behind on the title... Is she going the Storm route?
