Ya she's great. I wasn't feeling too optimistic about the Shazam reboot so she picked me up some 'methadone' in case I hated it. The Fawcett titles are really good, I'm going to have to check out more at the DCM. It looks like they turned over their library to the public domain after they shut down the comic book devision in the 50's.
Proof is imminent...

Akira was pretty good, some of the chase scenes were pretty confusing visually, or maybe that's just me not used to all the extra manga-lines and stuff.

Bought several hundred good books over the weekend, some GNs in there too so I'm reading:

Something I would normally never had bought for myself if it hadn't cost like a dime more or less. Although I do love Howard Chaykin and Archie Goodwin, actually, which is why I picked it out of the stash to read first before reselling.

EDIT: Not that impressive.

Goodwin was good with scripts, so maybe you didn't like it because of the art?

The art was not Chaykin at his best but the coloring was really abusively overbearing, at least in this repro.

Chaykin does not have a "best".. most overrated "big name" artist I have ever seen. His art is fugly.

That's a harsh thing to say, but I have to agree. He's only been getting worse lately too.

Chaykin was a great artist in the early 80s, but he has lost some of his charm after that.

Cool finish. Hope this is not the end of Cade's adventure.
I've read some reviews saying this is a bit rushed, and it sort of is, but this series in general and this book in particular is awesome at giving you the feel of the scale of the conflict.
There's a few twists and turns to keep things interesting, and finally a Skywalker walks the stars.

Good series, loved the ride, hope there's more in the future.

I've owned every iteration of this (the Tokyopop volume and the Image floppies) and I'm getting this too. This is great fun with absolutely incredible art (which is a crazy mix of American urban graffiti and Japanese manga). Not for haters of black and white comics, of course...
