Meh, the video simply shows a gash on the guy's head, and a cop stopping to look at it. Which is kind of consistent with what he claimed in the first place, but not conclusive IMO. Essentially, the video proves nothing one way or another. As for a homicide detective...well, they don't make those sorts of calls, that's for the DA. And there appear to be plenty of other cops who thought otherwise.
This whole thing smacks to me of a rush to hang the guy, then convict him, then give him a trial, then hold an investigation to find out if he actually did anything he should be tried for in the first place...in that order.
Reminds me of the Richard Jewell thing. As I recall, he was found guilty in the press and by pundits far and wide with no knowledge of the investigation except what the side out to get him wanted them to have. And yet we wasn't guilty at all. Not that it helped him much after being dragged through the mud by many of the same sources that are doing this to that Zimmerman guy. Instead of say waiting for an indictment followed by a trial, or a dismissal.
