Seems like Jesus was more or less on the level, Rick and his core group are led into a big expansive compound with a miniature town inside. The residents look a little tense though, and it turns out that may be in part because some of their people have been held in exchange for some sort of payoff by someone called Negan.

As the town's bossman shows Rick around, there's an attempt on his life that turns out to be one resident's desperate deal to get "Crystal" back from Negan in exchange for committing the murder. Rick stops the man and he is killed in the struggle. The residents seem frozen and unwilling to take any actions themselves.

The last panel, Rick, covered in the dead man's blood, looks back at them and says, "What?"

Very nice issue indeed. Hilltop has lots of possibilities (well maybe not that many with an issue #100 coming up soon).

I love this book. It's the only book out these days that makes feel like I did for every title I collected back when I was kid. A month seemed so long between issues. Can't wait for #96!

Actually there is one more... IDW's GIJoe A Real American Hero written by Larry Hama. These two books are great.

I know humor wasn't intended (maybe it was) but I totally lol'd when I turned to that last page with Rick saying 'What?'

Maybe a continuation to the Walking Dead #50's second story?

I was talking to a retailer today about Avengers vs X-Men, he said it was selling okay but they had plenty of copies left and no real urgency around the book--one of the only reasons some smaller shops order so many copies of a book like that is so they can get some of the rare variant covers to sell on eBay. Otherwise, they wouldn't have ordered so many to begin with.

But, they had a huge display for The Walking Dead merchandise. He said the sales TWD generated just for his store were massive, and it was the only thing that had ever justified its own aisle like he had set up.
