Oh, I have no doubt that it's an anomaly. Both ROH and Dragon Gate usually have good quality iPPVs and I'd recommend that any and all wrestling fans check at least a few out. Streaming PPVs over the internet is a relatively new way of doing things for the pro wrestling industry and I expect that this sort of thing won't be happening for the last time. It's sadly the reality of technology, television has been around for decades and there are still times when the cable goes out.

I'm not sure what the story was from last night as I wasn't watching last night, but this afternoon the feed suddenly went out and a message appeared at the top of the window saying that there was a blackout at the building where the show was live. When the signal resumed it was mid-show and it was clear that the live event had continued unphazed. I have a hard time thinking that this would be the case if the building was actually blacked out. I dislike glitches, but I can deal with them as I realize that these things happen. Having said that, I hate being told a reason for a glitch that doesn't match the reality that I see before me.

It said there was a brownout which is a bit different.

A brown out is a temporary thing that can fuck up electronics and cause you to need to reset. Usually only lasts a minute or two.

A blackout is when they stay out longer.

So if there was a brownout, then the lights might have only been out for a few minutes, but maybe the equipment they were using takes a long time to reboot or had issues as a result of the power going out in the middle of being used.

The Bellas always look so much better when they aren't wearing their ring stuff, especially Brie.

From TMZ:

WWE star (and Harvard Law grad) David Otunga was so touched by the story of a young Haiti refugee ... he decided to give the kid the greatest present ever -- an in-person meet-and-greet with all of the boy's wrestling heroes.

Otunga was in Florida on Friday to give an anti-bullying talk at a John F. Kennedy Middle School -- and as part of the event ... the school raffled off a ticket to Wrestlemania 28 this weekend in Miami Gardens, where The Rock will face off against John Cena.

The kid who won the raffle turned out to be a refugee from Haiti's massive 2010 earthquake -- and now lives with foster parents in the US. Two weeks ago, the boy's biological mother died in Haiti.

Otunga caught wind of the boy's story -- and was so moved he decided a simple Wrestlemania ticket wasn't enough ... so he personally set up a meet-and-greet for the kid backstage ... with ALL the wrestlers at the event.

I just got back from my friends place. Unfortunately, Dragon Gate tonight was a no go. We had intended to watch the PPV from last night, but apparently, the site that DGUSA uses for their iPPVs doesn't do so well if you try to play an archived video at the same time that they're broadcasting a live show. We all agreed that we didn't want to watch the show tonight before the show that was broadcast last night, so we decided that we'll watch this weekend's DGUSA show next weekend. We played the ROH show from last night because Go Fight Live was saying that on their site that the problems with the broadcast had been fixed in the archived version. Sadly, this turned out not to be the total case. The audio was fine, they fixed that, but when we reached Steen vs El Generico, the stream just wouldn't continue. We eventually gave up and decided to try the last two matches from that show next weekend as well. I'm hoping any problems with the stream will be fixed by then.

So far this weekend, there has been some good wrestling, but way too much disappointment as well. The same group of friends and I are getting together tomorrow to watch WrestleMania. Hopefully there won't be anymore problems.

Taking a cue from Syxx, my match of the day would be Davey Richards vs Michael Elgin.

Day 91.

Today is a story of redemption.

It started with El Generico vs the newly-heel Jimmy Jacobs. An enjoyable match. Not flashy or overly spectacular, but it served it's purpose.

Next up was Fire Ant vs. TJ Perkins. I'm finding TJ to be quite overrated honestly. This match was decent.

Then there was Tomasso Ciampa vs. Cedric Alexander. I'm a huge fan of Tomasso and I think he has big things ahead of him. He's a good worker and one of the better promo guys in ROH.

Then... The feed died. It was right as Kyle O'Reilly vs. Adam Cole was to begin. I wasn't too upset, I wasn't really interested in that match. They went to intermission and fixed it and started off ANX vs. the Young Bucks. A great brawl was beginning as the feed died again. I waited a bit, but frankly after last evening I was too disenchanted to wait long, and asked for my refund (by the way - I was given a partial refund this morning for last evening).

It came back in time for the triple main event. Kevin Steen vs. Eddie Edwards was a really fun match that ended so abruptly. It was in third gear and ready to go to fourth when it finished.

Jay Lethal vs. Roddy Strong was actually quite the snoozer with a shocking finish that I didn't see coming. Props to Roddy for being the second ever triple crown champ. I think it was a brilliant idea to give it to Eddie Edwards as a storytelling device, but I like it even better as a way of saying, "Roddy - thank you for eight years of giving us everything you've got."

And finally.... The main event. I said this was a story of redemption, and it is. By the end of the main event, I could care less about unsynced audio or missing out on ANX vs. the YBs. I wanted one thing and one thing only: for Davey Richards to tap the fuck out to that Crossface. I've been a fan of Elgin for a good long while, but I never expected to find myself that emotionally invested. It's a testament to the effort of both men involved in the match. When I watch the iPPVs, I drag a chair from my front room in front of my computer and put the ottoman in front of it. Same set-up for when I watch TV. It's relaxing, I can lay back and enjoy. Here I was sitting upright on the ottoman, gripping the edge, cussing Davey every time he kicked out or locked in the Ankle Lock, cheering Elgin every time he hit a big move or locked in the Crossface... I don't think I've been so emotionally invested in a match in such a fashion since Supercard of Honor 3 watching Austin Aries vs. Nigel McGuinness. This match was better than great. A MOTYC for sure and a strong contender at that. If anything, everyone needs to see this match. It's a genuine star-making performance for Elgin who went in as "The guy with tons of potential" and walked out "Future ROH Champ."

Match of the Day goes to Michael Elgin vs. Davey Richards.
