Review:

After the siege of Asgard, the Avengers have some down time on their hands with several members having a poker game with the Fantastic Four's Thing and Human Torch. Of course that doesn't last as Doctor Doom decides to crash the party.

Oh man did I miss this show, and so glad it's finally back. It finally touches on the last lingering plot point of the "first" main episode of the series (since the micro episodes are considered the first batch): Iron Man messing with an exchange with Doom/A.I.M. Of course, we also have the plot points of the finale touched on and the ongoing plot this season will namely have Earth caught right in the middle of the Kree/Skrull War and the Skrulls infiltrating Earth's heroes. In last season's finale Captain America was abducted and at the end of this episode we learn another hero has also been replaced with a Skrull imposter.

The one major thing I've always loved about this series has been the universe it plays in. This is the Marvel Universe finally given animated form and this episode spotlights this fact. We've already had the Fantastic Four and Doom hinted at in Season One. Now we get them in their full glory in this episode. These are the little treats I've enjoyed about the show. It rewards viewers with the payoff of a much grander event that will happen later.

Another thing I've enjoyed about this show was the way it handled its plot. Unlike some other superhero shows (whose names shall remain nameless), this show doesn't bash you over the head with the bigger plot. Instead it gives you better glimpses and teases of the larger plot while focusing on the current plot at hand, namely DOOM.

Alright, so let's get this out of the way, let's talk about Doctor Doom. What did I think of Doom's portrayal in this episode? I loved it! The voice of Lex Lang took some getting used to, but it fit Doom quite well. This episode showcased why the character is so lethal by taking on BOTH the Fantastic Four and Avengers at the same time. It perfectly balanced why Doom is such a major player in the Marvel Universe. I kind of hope we see more of Doom in the future since this was a great introduction of the character.

Overall, this was a welcome return. The episode picks up right where we left off and continues on making the viewer hungering for more. Add showcasing the other superhero team in New York and the greatest villain in all of comics: DOOM! Taking in the entertaining banter between the teams (the Hulk and Thing's were the highlights for me), the episode continues off the high last season went out on.

5 out of 5

What I love is they are clearly expanding this to more then just the avengers.

Star of the show? Pym, Thor, or Cap weren't around and Janet was knocked out for about 80% of the episode. Black Panther does two things. Really the only person who did much of anything was Hulk. Hawkeye only joked around and that was it. It was pretty light on the character moments. Oh wait the errand boy. He got blasted good? That's a comment right?

He's pretty spot-on. The entire big fight was a Doom highlight reel which the Avengers and FF guest starred in.

And seeing that Doom is aware of the Secret invasion means he'll be popping up a fair bit.

Thank you. :-D

All this episode was a fan of Doom's wet dream and to establish him as the baddest Earth villain who knows about the Skrull Invasion now to counter Fury knowing about it last season. Which makes me wonder if Doom might fill the void of Norman Osborn and they might go Dark Reign on us if there's a Season 3.. Also the heroes were at their weakest here. Iron Man was in an older suit model, "Cap" had no shield, no Thor, and no Pym.

I just wish we got more of the voices of the F4. All the actors fit their character well but we really didn't get to see Sue, Ben, or Johnny shine much just Reed. Again.. this episode was all DOOM.

Hulk was funny by how he kept punking The Thing.

Damn them for teasing a Hulk and Thing fight but we only get to see Hulk trolling Ben.

I like the little things they put in. Jan hurting herself when nudging Tony... The mention of Doom shooting the Baxter Building into space, etc.

I thought it was awesome a perfect episode.

I like that the build up for the Secret INvasion in this is better than the one we got in the comics.

I like that Cap is the perfect choice for infiltration because when he forgets someones name no one gets suspicious.

The Hulk bits with the Thing were the best part of the episode. Good review.
