No discussion of this surprisingly excellent show and it's new season?

I haven't watched Episode 1 yet because I only just got finished with my DVD of Gods Of The Arena last night (holy shit that was awesome, Gannicus is bad-ass), but rest assured I'll be back tonight to discuss it.

What did everyone make of Liam McIntyre as Spartacus? Was the show the same burst free of the constraints of the Ludus? How the hell does the show go on without Batiatus?

Man I love this show. Liam McIntyre is no Andy Whitfield but he's damn good.

Now it needs a little less of the slow motion fighting but other then that it was pretty good. It was kind of a slow build until the mass slaughter they pull off and it was awesome. Oenomaus is barely there but he makes his presence felt. Ilithyia's reaction to seeing Lucretia was epic and hilarious. My favorite reaction though was seeing Ilithyia react to Spartacus and then seconds later Lucretia seeing Crixus and remembering what happened to her.
Lucy Lawless was amazing in this episode. Her flat out psychosis was impressive to watch.

The new cast members are awesome. The high and mighty pussy and his manipulative slightly whorish sister were great.

Really good stuff, I was unsure about McIntyre at first, but by the end I bought him as Spartacus. It was great to be back in the present, out of the flashback and to have characters like Illythia and Glaber back.

The whorehouse battle scene was fucking hardcore, in more ways than one.

Yea really. They really gayed it up. When I saw that chick with the strap on I didnt expect her to use it on a dude who was going down on another chick. :shock:

Episode 2 was great, I loved seeing the return of the pits, and the flashbacks to Oenomaus/Doctore's childhood worked really well.

What's great is that this series is really exploring what it means to be free, and how, hey, some of the slaves liked that better. Plus, y'know tits and blood.

It's pretty obvious now that Lucretia is only playing at being crazy, I bet she's been working with Ashur since the rebellion began, he's probably the one who sewed her up.

I've always loved the whole Spartacus repelling down the Mountain on vines to win the fight. I love that they are kinda following the history of Spartacus, very loosely but still.
