I miss the days when superheroes wore brightly colored costumes and masks regardless of how ridiculous they would be considered in the real world. When did the real world encroach on our comic book goodess and why? Would you agree that it started with Wolverine's turn as Patch or was there another trigger?

Yeah! Some of the designs are cool but they should keep those suits for stuff like the Ultimate U. The current Hawkeye looks so stupid next to Captain America.

The Ultimates and Morrison's New X-Men started it.

What would you say is the best costume of the type you describe/desire?
I like some of the old school stuff and a few of the newer stuff (not too fond of too many textures on gloves, etc though)...

Yeah, the current Wolverine suit looks ridiculous! That's why I really liked the suit he wore in X-Force.

I think the movement may have started even before that. I remember the Avengers' leather jackets back in the 90s.

Thank you Troy for the sig

You know...I don't really care as long as it looks good. I mean, there are a lot of classic costume designs that I hate, like that red and green fuck-storm that Alan Scott wears. If he changed his costume for something that fucks eyes with slightly less malice, I wouldn't miss it.
But then, there are some classic costumes that I don't know why they fuck with and change.
I don't mind Superboy's jeans and t-shirt look, or even Luke Cage's roughneck civilian get-up. But it doesn't work for every character.

"You must be proud, bold, pleasant, resolute,
And now and then stab, as occasion serves."

Are S and N near one another on the Canadian keyboard?
Or are we witnessing another birth from THE FATHER OF LUTZ?
