When I came back from Wrestlemania last year, I don't think I acted like this

a fact you keep failing to address

whether you meant to or not ("nobody knew" ), the chants ruined the reveal

No, I'm point blank addressing the chants somehow ruining it for viewers: The chants might be a little prophetic or "Vince, Give Us What We Want Now" but unless anyone could straight up confirm the return was happening (which they couldn't), it's not a spoiler.

I stand by the fact that the chants created a "Will He or Won't He?" atmosphere rather than ruining a surprise. I could see being upset if it was a total secret and there was no smoke or major sports news agencies covering the talks, but all that was in the air already and the Miami crowd did nothing but say "Make It Happen" essentially.

You probably didn't come home to eight pages of OH! posts shitting on one of the greatest weekends of your life, either, in totally rude and disrespectful ways.

........wow. Seriously, please relax. Troy was not personally attacking you or shitting on your great weekend. Nor was anyone else. Everyone has a right to voice their displeasure with things, sure, but saying "The crowd is really being shitty to John Cena" is not the same thing as "Jeremiah Vedder is really being shitty to John Cena" just because you were in that crowd. It's not, so come on and chill out and let's move on to fun stuff.

jeremiahvedder wrote:Sorry, man, your story only makes sense if you're not really a fan of wrestling or don't care for Brock and didn't want to see him come back anyway. A little chant for something NO ONE CAN CONFIRM wouldn't be enough to turn someone off. Just sounds fake, to accentuate some kind of point, is all I'm saying...

spending five minutes telling everyone what is abou to happen shouldn't make anyone disinterested?
If some one tells me the last page of a comic book I have a hard time brining myself to read the thing
I didn't turn off the TV, you'll know that by the way I didn't say that I did, RAW just stopped being the focus of my attention. Cena was meandering on about being a man, the crowd was screaming at him - nothing there is anything new - add to that the crowd is screaming that they want to see one more ex-wrester to come out and put him in his place...borring

If the Rock's music had hit, I'd of ran right back in to see what was what, but I see Brock out of the corner of my eye and no longer care.

As to being a fan or not, Brock gave me by favorite Iron Man match of all time against Kurt Angle on SmackDown. Getting himself disqualified ~4 times with chair shots, stair tosses, and other shenanigans, only to pin a broken Angel 10+(ish) times
shit was awesome
he was also a very impressive monster

but lets not forget that he also he tossed a one-legged kid down the stairs, had a borring match against Goldberg.

Everything that everyone's complaining about was me, too.

I was chanting YES! YES! YES! and for Brock. I was booing Cena and Sheamus.

Like I told you earlier, Syxx: It's still, he's still talking about me. Everything he was bitching about, that was me doing that, too. That's like someone dropping a racist remark and saying "he was just talking about the other black people." No, that's me, too. That's a direct insult. He could have very well (respectfully) said "I don't agree with the crowd" rather than "they're stupid Indy shits" or whatever.

That crowd was hot and awesome and it's being nitpicked and bitched about because we didn't toe the PG line, because being wrestling fans suddenly fell out of favor or whatever. It's just frightfully irritating.

really
most of us ended up really liking WM
I even liked the Bryan match, laughed my ass off - great for the character
Diva's match was shit, but everything else was RAW level or MUCH Better
I stand by that I don't see the story telling sense in Cena losing, but I don't remember anyone being disrespectful
Those who remembered love the HoF ceremony, and who forgot stated how disappointed they were
Other than two people being upset at the final 5 minutes, most of the comments about RAW were fairly positive and, until someone decided to be rude to Troy, not at all disrespectful.

It's a bit much your racism comparison. It really is.

And in fact, here's the thing - no matter how you slice it or try to mix in race-relations, Troy did not personally insult you. You personally insulted him. It would be cool if you didn't. Isn't that fair enough?

Okay, here's what I'll say, the rest of you can go on but I'm putting it to bed:

Troy did say some insulting things about the Miami crowd so I defended the experience. You might not feel as though it was insulting but it was. That crowd was awesome and I'm proud to have been a part of it.

Gheru, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry some chants somehow ruined the show for you but no one in the audience legitimately knew Brock was going to be there and we were only chanting for what we wanted to see. It might have been a been prophetic or inspired by the news of WWE/Lesnar talks but I know myself and the people around me weren't chanting to ruin any kind of surprise for the three people who like wrestling but live under a rock: we were chanting because we wanted it to happen.

I respect that people feel differently on all these points but there could have been more tact in expressing their opinions -- from myself, as well. I got defensive because it was such a great time and I sensed an overwhelming negativity that I didn't appreciate.

Granted.

One tends to gravitate toward comparisons that make an easy to understand visual.

Think about that statement and then think about how Troy must feel every day in this thread because of the general perception of his favorite wrestler.

I felt personally insulted. He was insulting a group of which I was a part and insulting actions by which I personally partook. For what it's worth, however, I'm sorry for the snarky fallout.

I feel like we're very generally accepting and respectful of "Cena the Man" and all the great stuff he does for charity and Make-A-Wish but really tired of "Super Cena" as a character. I can go back and link to dozens of my own posts in this very thread defending Cena but wanting him to lose cleanly every now and again and have some kind of harder edge. I think those are very reasonable feelings and I never go at anybody for being a fan.
