I think that was a big misstep as well. He should have been gone for a couple of months at that point. They could have used that time to build up some other credible top guys, made Wade look better, given Cena a rest, and I think some people that are anti-Cena might have softened their stance while he was gone.
Plus, a storyline with him having to work his way back up the ladder to get to the top (instead of just coming back the next week like nothing happened) could have been good. I'd love to have seen him have to earn the right for a shot at Wade or something.

I actually had but then he started no selling his predicament and then he was just back.

That was the first of blown opportunities with some good storylines.

I think it's been put to rest, but if I thought the crowd annoyed me at some points, then idk why one person would feel personally insulted.

There's a lot of people in that crowd

Thats something I would really like to see them try and do right now. Have Cena come out next week and talk about how he doesn't understand whats going on, why he lost to the Rock, why he got attacked by Lesnar. Lose a couple questionable matches, shaking his confidence making him doubt him self. Then have him get destroyed by Lesnar at one of the up coming PPVs and put him on the shelf until Royal Rumble. Have him be the surprise entrant at #1 and win the Rumble. Have him then start to build a winning streak leading into the WM29 match with The Rock where he wins the title.

I think that would give WWE time to build up some other stars. Give Cena time to heal up any nagging injuries, refresh himself, and then come back and more than likely gain a little acceptance from the people that hate him right now.

I wouldn't want to see him fight the Rock for the title. I wouldn't want to see the Rock win the title. There's no need for that.

And I don't really want to see Cena win the Rumble. Seeing him gone for months and months, only to come back and immediately beat every other relevant guy on the roster (or close to it) would be irritating and would just put him right back where he is right now in the eyes of the people that don't like him. I think seeing him get crushed by Lesnar and seeing him lose some matches to guys like Cody or whatever would be good, but what he needs more than anything is just a change in character to take shit more seriously, joke around less, act like he gives a fuck about winning and losing, and just generally break from his current routine. As much as I don't usually like losing streaks, I think that could be a good story for him, and seeing him trying to win the US Title or the IC Title (and failing) could be good for all involved. I actually think a good WM thing for him next year could be MitB. I'd enjoy seeing him lose quickly in the Rumble, hit his lowest point there, and then have him start getting back on track in February, before getting a shot at a MitB qualifying match against someone that seems a shoo-in (a Shamus/Jericho type of guy), where he pulls what feels like an upset. Then actually have him win MitB and use it like RVD did with a fair fight at a PPV later in the summer (or even the very next month).

Meanwhile, at WM I think we'll see Brock vs the Rock, and if Brock is actually working at least somewhat regularly (like the HBK schedule) I'd have no beef with him as champ going into this match and Rock trying to get the belt off of him. Have Brock win, then next month it's Cena trying to finish his road back against the guy the pushed him all the way off track by crushing him.

I think that's better than having him gone for a long time then beating everyone at the Rumble. And I think Brock makes for a better champ than the Rock at this point.

And Yoshi Tatsu is way underused. Since he's on SD I really thought they'd use him. :-(

If Lord Tensai destroys him, at least he'll be getting on tv. Gotta start somewhere

Is Brock gonna even want to work a decent full time schedule?

Wasn't that the reason he quit last time? He said he was unhappy, if he would have stuck around he'd probably be the current John Cena

Agreed.

It reminds me a lot of DC and Didio. It started out with just haters being haters, but then the mistakes started piling up and there started to be real missed opportunities, and then things started getting out of hand with them just saying they cared about what the fans wanted without actually doing anything the fans wanted.

That said, I don't think that the Cena situation is as far gone as the Didio one. I think you could fix Cena in 6 months or a year by using him just a bit differently (or turning him heel, which won't happen), while I think DC really needs to just clean house.

Batista looks like a huge douche/tool......which fits perfectly with his last version of his character before he left! Can't wait for the return next week!

I think he knows this is his last big payday chance as his UFC stuff is done.

And I think he's a big enough star he can get very favorable terms. I can see him doing very very few house shows (like MSG once or twice a year, and a couple others as he sees fit) and being on TV 3 times a month, and doing most PPVs. I think that's enough to be champ for a few months.

The people that were pissed about the Rock must be fuming about Brock. The Rock did it just as much for the love of wrestling as for the money I think. Brock's probably doing just for the paycheck and I'm sure he could easily walk away if he gets bored. :smt102

Meltzer said that it was for a full year with two shows a month.

Turning him would probably be the quickest way and I think the most effective.

I agree that Brock is doing it solely for the money. He's not going to be a movie star or anything. This is his best option to get a good payday, but I can see him working a bit more than that if it means a little more money.
