I have no problem making this the real way unemployment is calculated as long as it is consistent, not just trotted out because people want to take shots at the president. Statistics should not be manipulated, by either side.

The U-6 level has actually dropped 2.7% since its highest level in 2009.

If this, or any, administration has presided over such a weak recovery then those stats are completely acceptable. The unemployment rate is a political tool, not a valid stat.

That's because the economy sucks so bad that unless you've got Royce money you live from paycheck to paycheck when you do have a job, which likely barely pays for you to live anyway. If wages had increased in the past fifty years at a rate anywhere near the rate cost of living has, people would have savings and be able to find a new job easily anyway. I don't see it ever getting any better, really. Accept the new normal.

It's extinct, they just don't realize it yet. How much of what people make do you think is spent purely on neverending debt? Student loan debt, credit card debt, car debt, housr debt, or rent which goes to pay off the debt of the landlord. And the shitty economy and unemployment just forces most of the population deeper into debt. I'd wager most people in the current generation in America will live their entire lives in debt. A far cry from the world my grandparents grew up in, where working your whole life would eventually ammount to something. Now, you just live to work to make some bank richer and then you die, and your children do the same.

What happened was corporations and government were first content with money and power which let some people have enough money of their own, but now corporations and government want more and the only place to take it from is the middle class. They've sucked them dry.

Look at Goldman Sachs. It is a company which really doesn't do anything but make money. It doesn't really offer any services. It's hilarious.
