Marvel Preview: Uncanny X-Force Final Execution Arc

Postby sdsichero » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:59 pm

An interview with artist Mike McKone:

Uncanny X-Force: Omega

Beginning this May in UNCANNY X-FORCE #25, Wolverine’s clandestine team will once again see the consequences of their past actions come back to haunt them as the “Final Execution” storyline ties together loose threads from the entire series and introduce deadly new foes.

Mike is awesome but not sure he's the right fit for the book at all.

I like McKone. I want him on Avengers Academy, but I hope he can do well on X-Force as well.

I wish I hadnt. There were pages that looked like the art wasnt even finished. I could maybe have lived with that if the story wasnt so terrible.

So I guess the story wasn't that bad?

For a 4 dollar, 20 page comic, awful is definitely an accurate assessment of that arc.

I have a feeling this book is staying in the dropped pile for me, and if any of the character-centered arcs look to be a good read like The Dark Angel Saga was I'll read them in trade now that that monthly urgency has waned to nil. Because I have a feeling now that I only liked that one arc enough for a $4/20 page monthly and the love is gone.

I don't trust any writer, artist, or editor who put that last mess arc out to be consistent in putting out a quality product. I feel like they thought the attention the book garnered meant they could drop a series of crap issues on the reader and expect them to remain loyal to the book, that ain't happening here.

I wouldn't say that at all.

Sure, you could say that about the most recent arc, but prior to that we had 19 straight issues of consistently awesome art. The artists varied, sure, but Dean White on colors helped keep it all consistent.

I think these preview pages look awesome, and the story sounds ridiculously good.

No it was fucking terrible too. But it was at least finished. I'm not kidding the last issue half the book looked like it was given to the inker and colorist before the pencils were finished and then the inker/colorist didnt finish either.
