Ugh, a Hickman Iron Man would be awful, I really hope all these rumours of him taking over Avengers are just that, rumours.

Well, some of us like Hickman, and he has a good relationship with Tom Breevoort.

I belive, through hints we've seen, the breakdown will be as follows

Avengers: Jon Hickman
New Avengers: Mark Waid - going against the notion that a more traditional writer like Waid would be on the more traditional book, but Waid can tie it in with Daredevil

I like the creative team and be interested in seeing how it goes so I'll buy the series. that said this title will have the lasting power of Iron Fist so I do not expect it to last longer than two years.

I do not know if flop is the right word, as if there is not a large enough audience to support the title and give the sale numbers it would need to go past a year.

I'd call a flop something along the lines of DC Hawk & Dove where everything was just bad from story to art to execution.

I think the success of this will lie squarely on the shoulders of Fraction being able to introduce a decent supervillain for Clint. They have always said that a hero is only as good as his villain, and quite frankly Crossfire blows.

True about Crossfire who is a pale imitation of Bullseye. Now I can see them moving Bullseye or even Lady Bullseye over to Hawkeye which could make for an interesting read.

I'd rather see someone new. Mr & Mrs Bullseye will always be DD villains.

Should they go with an existing villain and stick with the whole marksman vs marksman angle I think a new version of the either the Deadly Throws or Circus of Crime with his brother Trickshot would be cool.

I don't think Waid has the time/patience for that. He's got probably the biggest personal project of any creator out there starting up and has said the lack of editorial strings on DD was a draw. Writing New Avengers, at least 1 out of every 3 arcs is going to tie into the big event of the year- I don't see it.

Yeah, I'd love to see Waid on an Avengers book, but between Daredevil and his new Thrillbent venture, I reckon his dance card is pretty full.

I'm even more interested now...

This is what Green Arrow should be.

Exactly. In fact it's kind of what I expected Ann Nocenti to do when she took over that book (but hasn't, apparently).

See, this is why this book has a chance: great creative team, with a clear vision for the character paired with arguably the best editor Marvel's got. I honestly think this is going to be a great, fun book.
