Marvel's final panel for C2E2 promised lots of news. On the panel were Seniro VP of Creative & Creator Devlopment CB Cebulski, Editor Sana Amanat, Editor Daniel Ketchum, and writers Cullen Bunn, Dennis Hopeless, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and James Asmus.
Read on for tidbits of Captain Marvel, Thor, Captain America & Hawkeye, Wolverine, Gambit, and Marvel Season One graphic novels.
Then panel started with
Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) talk. The title is being written by DeConnick with art by Dexter Soy and covers by Ed McGuinness. Issue 2 will introduce the Banshee Squadron, a sort of new Howling Commandos. DeConnick will also be writing this character in
Avenging Spider-Man with art by Terry Dodson.
Artist news as it was announced that Jamie McKelvie will be taking over art duties for
The Defenders after Dodson.
In the pages of
The Mighty Thor and
Journey into Mystery, Matt Fraction and Kieron Gillen will tell a tale of betrayal as Loki and Thor are set upon by some of the people closest to them. This story runs from August through October.
Cullen Bunn and artist Alesandro Vitti will be doing
Captain America and Hawkeye issue #632. Bunn describes the title characters as being the "Tango and Cash" of the Marvel Universe. Bunn will also be working on
Wolverine with Paul Pelletier. And in more things Bunn related, he is also writing the
Spider-Man Season One graphic novel with artist Neil Edwards.
On the topic of Season One graphic novels,
X-Men Season One will be by Dennis Hopeless and James McKelvie.
As reported earlier this week, the new
Gambit series starts this August and will be by James Asmus and Clay Mann. This is supposed to bring Gambit into the larger Marvel Universe as one of the great thieves. His costume is also reported to have been updated a bit.
Some questions from the the audience followed. No plans to bring back
The Runaways title yet, they are waiting for the right pitch. More on the youth, the Avengers Academy folks will play a role in AVX. Some talk about the importance of pre-ordering from retailers is discussed. And yes, Rogue will play a role in the upcoming Gambit title. Mystique is a
possible rival in the new Captain Marvel book. Doctor Nemesis and his starfish seemed to be the topic of more than one question.
And thus ended the final Marvel panel of C2E2 2012.
