If you put a score on it, that constitutes an official RG review. :groucho:

America's Got Powers #1

If ever there was a comic that was a more pure personification of meh, I can't think of one. There's just not much of anything here that's original or interesting. The closest thing that passes for a twist is the actual show turning out to be an arena type battle, I had been expecting something closer to Running Man. Hitch seems to be in full-on Ultimates mode with his designs, I would imagine San Francisco in the Ultimate U looking exactly the same. Even the costumes had that same Ultimates look about them, kind of makes you wonder if that's all he can come up with or if he was just being lazy. I can't imagine any scenario where I would want to read the second issue.

Story: 2
Art: 6
Overall: 4

I probably would have given this a 6 the night I read it, but the more I've thought about it, the less I liked it.

Tommy Watts seems like a interesting character and the exact nature of his powers is a curiosity that does peek my interest. The setting and past history also seem to be fairly well thought out and put together. Judging from the the events of this issue, this series would seem to more about the political situation surrounding The Power Genaration, then about any super heroics. That thought makes me less inclined to get the rest of the series, as the political issues came across to me as one of the the least interesting aspects of the story. Since geting a reader interested in reading the rest of the series is something that a first issue should do, I think I have to take some points away for that. When it comes to the big fight this issue, I have no real complaints. I found it to be an exciting fight to read. Overall I liked this issue.

I'll give it a 6 out of 10.

I don't believe you. You're going to have to provide some type of evidence in the form of a review.

I liked it too, I gave it a six.

In my mind a five is what I give to something I'm just meh about. Anything from six to ten I enjoy to various degrees. I didn't enjoy it enough to want to get the other five issues, but I still liked it.

I pm'd SP on Friday asking him to make a pick by today, he read the PM but apparently has chosen to ignore me.

:smt102

Sucks for him, lots of great books to choose from next week. See for yourselves and vote...

I find it a little confusing as to why British creators would make this book.

Why? Simon Cowell is British, Britain's Got Talent came along before America's Got Talent. Any reality TV stuff you've seen, we have our own version too.
