It was the main event of a CMLL program. I was really flippin' surprised to see it happening.

Must have missed it then.

I also watched a Julio Cesar Chavez documentary yesterday and they showed clips of his fights and they have the same commentators. It always cracks me up that they do both real sports and lucha.

I feel that way when I see Coach on ESPN or when he used to call football games and whatnot.

OK I haven't watched TNA in forever but I still keep up with it's goings on from the various wrestling sites that I visit. I was reading some spoilers from the tapings they did last night and just reading this short snipit blows my mind. TNA even without Russo still has worse booking that WCW ever had:

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
So Roode the TNA Champion barely beats Storm at the last PPV, you would think James Storm is gonna get another shot at Roode and the next PPV or something like that right? WRONG. They open this weeks show with Mr Anderson, who I don't think has been on TNA TV in about half a year (I could be wrong about that though) and Jeff Hardy laying claim to the #1 contendership, then RVD who I don't think has been on TNA TV in over a year (again I could be wrong about that) that he should get a shot at the title. Hogan books the 3 of them in a match for later in the show. RVD ends up winning and now gets a shot at Roode for the title at the next PPV.

Please lord almighty tell me what fucking sense that makes? Why drop the Storm vs Roode feud so quickly? Storm is one of the last original TNA guys and he is getting overlooked, so that 3 WWE dropouts can get a shot at the title! Thats just fucking stupid.

This isn't the first time TNA has dropped the ball on Roode/Storm.

They should've been feuding for six months over that belt but Storm got injured and buried in other angles, when the only thing he should've been doing is haunting Bobby Roode's nightmares.

I don't mind Storm not getting another shot, the dumbass blew it. But I agree about RVD and Anderson, mostly Anderson. Guy sucks!

Former ROH Champion and current TNA X-Division Champion Austin Aries recently did an interview as hype for this past Sunday's Lockdown. The article, posted to the web on Tuesday, includes a damning shot to Ring of Honor from Aries:

"I'll be really honest with you, the Ring of Honor today is not anything like the Ring of Honor that the likes of CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and myself came from. Obviously they are still operating under the same name, but the company has changed so much over the years and it's really a shell of it's former self in terms of the vision and thought process. The original Ring of Honor and the Ring of Honor today are two completely different things, I like to call it Smokey Mountain of Honor." You can read the full article at

I doubt he'll be making a return there soon

Why didn't Aries go to WWE with Punk and Bryan again?

Well, first off Punk and Danielson didn't go to WWE together. Punk went in '05, Danielson in '09. Danielson went with Nigel, but Nigel had his offer revoked due to failing battery tests.

I would say Aries didn't go because he's too small (he's smaller than Danielson I believe). I would imagine his noted primadonna attitude didn't help matters. He tried out for Tough Enough last year and didn't make it.

What's the full story behind his split from ROH? All I know is that he fell out with management and there were some backstage fusses.

Syd Eick didn't like him and politicked him out.

I think it's weird that Aries doesn't work for WWE but has worked on several of the WWE Games, for the motion capture movements and such. I had heard that he did have a tryout for the WWE but was told they didn't want him, that could be the same Tough Enough spot that syxx is talking about.

Yeah they said he was too small and too old (he's 34, sure doesn't look it).

I think he would be nothing but a success in the WWE, he could come right in as a top level heel that could go with anyone in the ring and hold his own on the mic as well. To Aries vs Punk for the WWE title would be absolutely insane!

Day 109.

If you recall, a few weeks ago I watched the Best of Taka Michinoku from IVP but the last match was messed up because of a poor upload. Well the guy who runs IVP reuploaded a new file and I downloaded it to finish off the DVD.

The last match on it was Taka Michinoku/Akitoshi Saito vs. Jun Akiyama/Atsushi Aoki. It was a pretty good match with Aoki getting manhandled by Saito and cheapshotted by Michinoku. Taka was in full dickhead glory here, repeatedly poking the eye of Aoki when he felt necessary. Akiyama played the Heroic Knight role pretty well. The finish came with Taka forcing Aoki to tap to his crossface.

Match of the Day goes to Taka Michinoku/Akitoshi Saito vs. Jun Akiyama/Atsushi Aoki, of course.

I think the problem is that he realizes he's a star and handles himself like one. I said that from his first appearance in TNA. Vince probably hates that and wants the Internet sensations to be humbled like he did to Low Ki and Bryan at first.

He makes anyone that works with him look good though no matter the conflicting styles. I reckon with creative control he could get a 5* match out of even Khali.
