Jack White, What Do You Think Of Him?

Postby Cat-Scratch » Sat Apr 21, 2012 1:37 pm

Just curious. A few weeks back I heard a bit of bio piece on him along with some of the music and liked some of what I heard.
I thought he was just in the one band, White Stripes and that was that, but found out he's in two other bands, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. I prefer The Raconteurs stuff over the rest, but the odd tune from the other groups are pretty good. The only thing is, some of it sounds familiar to me. I don't mean that I heard it before specifically, but parts of it. :smt102

The above link is the show in replay. Good show/series over all, I think.
So check it out listen to what I heard and judge. Or don't bother and judge.

He's an amazing guitarist and a great songwriter, plus is influenced by the Blues which is always a good thing. I like Jack White.

I think he's OK. I'm not a big fan of his vocals, but his guitar playing and songwriting (for the most part only, the latter) are very good.

I like him, but he can get kinda tiring after a while. I do like The Dead Weather though, probably my favorite out of his bands.

That's one of the appeals for me. The first Raconteurs album is pretty damn enjoyable for me.

I find he's okay on the vocals too. Sometimes I thought I was listening to a person trying to sound like Jim Morrison. :smt102

Mind you, thanks to the show there, The Secret History of Rock, I heard a vocal only track of Kurt Cobain. The man could sing.
I thought he was another mumble/growl singer but nope!

I'm in the middle of writing a review of Blunderbuss. I'll let you know there.

I find that with most singers/bands. I normally don't listen to albums in full as a result.

:-D

That's one album I've yet to hear of his. Not a single track I think, so far.

Keb likes pretentious indie rock too. It totally ruins his street cred.
