Oddly enough, all anyone I know (who hasn't read the books) has been talking about since Sunday is "holy crap! did you see what happened at the end of Game of Thrones?"

People like it more than ever, and the ratings continuing to rise is proof of this.

Not everything has to be some realistic, dark and gritty bullshit. The argument is getting about as stale as Twig's whole schtick about it.

I'm not saying it does. I'm saying the ending was very poorly done, as out of nowhere a shadow came out of some girls vagina.

1) The shadow baby is followed up on. The ending was meant to be a cliffhanger.

2) The first scene of the series featured fucking ice zombies with glowing blue eyes. You can't say the series hasn't had mystical elements from literally the beginning. I don't think you have to worry about it turning away viewers.

Out of nowhere? We saw Melisandre and Stannis have sex two episodes ago and it's been established she can perform magic. The series has magic, this is just one of it's appearances.

Anyways, it was less out of nowhere than in the books, where the Shadow just shows up, does a spoiler, and you don't know what it is until later.

Yeah, I was hoping it was going to end with Renly's death and they were going to show the whole thing but I can see how that would be quite ominous from the perspective of people who haven't read the books.

Most of the people who haven't read the books were raving about the ending. It was a big 'WTF?' moment for them.

Will die when he meets Melisandre's shadow baby. I'm guessing this will be next episode.

I'm actually confused a bit

[Reveal] Spoiler: Click to Expand
I thought Davos witnessed the shadow baby's birth when Stannis was trying to get one of Robert's bastards, and that the one that killed Renly just showed up out of no where?

Perhaps they'll skip that whole subplot, especially since they've apparently decided to not show anything in regards to Stannis' daughter.

The episode itself was fantastic.

Can someone remind me who Illyn Payne is though? I can't for the life of me remember.

In the books, Davos doesn't see the birth of a Shadow Baby until the one Melisandre uses to kill Ser Courtnay Penrose, who is keeping the doors to Storm's End closed in order to predict Edric Storm. They transposed that scene to Renly's Shadow Baby.

I didn't know she could perform magic, I thought she was a loony.

She survived drinking poison, with absolutely no effect on her, in the first episode of the season. I think that should have been a clue that she wasn't a loony.
