Day 116.
Finally got around to watching RAW. It was a strong episode, but towards the end I was getting a bit fed up with it.
The opening segment with Edge was tremendous. I love how they're painting Brock here and it's going to pay off in the long run I bet. Edge brought a ton of ferocity to the segment and ending it without Cena getting much to say was a great touch. In fact, Cena didn't say a whole hell of a lot tonight.
Jericho vs. Kingston was a great match that brought memories of '08 or '09 when Jericho would tear the house down with the mid-carders. A fantastically worked match with both men bringing their a-game. His post-match promo was OK, nothing special.
Tensai's squash was acceptable. The Kane/Orton-segment was groanworthy. Del Rio/Cody Rhodes vs Khali/Big Show was PAW (perfectly acceptable wrestling).
The Jericho-segment with Long, Eve, and Johnny Ace was great stuff. Jericho showed a lot more here than he did earlier. In particular I loved how he treated Eve and Teddy. Good segment. The Punk DUI-test was a bit lengthy, but it ultimately was a fun thing to watch. If only Punk didn't mess up the alphabet.
Sheamus vs. Mark Henry was a great segment. Danielson is so on fire as a heel right now it isn't funny. Sheamus is doing a good job in his role and is truly the perfect foil to Danielson (and vice versa). I realize one of the falls on Sunday will probably go less than 18 seconds, but at least the other two should be good, fun bouts.
Epico/Primo vs. Marella/Ryder was a waste of time. And really, this is the absolute worst the WWE tag division has ever been and you won't be able to convince me otherwise. The Colons and Usos are the only two major teams and they both come off like such jobbers it's not even funny. They're the equivalent of the Killer Bees and the Young Stallions and there is literally no other team worth a damn in the company. Just absolutely pathetic. And can you imagine if the Bees or the Stallions won the belts in the 80s? Because that's exactly what it's like right now. A jobber team holds the tag team championship.
Clay/Hornswoggle vs. Ziggler/Swagger was another waste of time. It's time to get over it and do an actual match with these guys. The ending segment wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Johnny Ace did a great job here and Lesnar tried his best, but he's not suited for doing a lot talking.
Match of the Day goes to Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston.
