No worries. Probably the most impactful moment of the film.

Like I said, I felt that the movie (while a lot of fun) lacked a bit of the emotional edge.

For everything this film could be, this was pretty damned close to perfection. The actors didnt ham it up, the script was genuinely funny and there were some great sequences. The longshot at the end was phenomenal.

Well done Whedon.

Kind of odd that they would kill Coulson off, just as he is properly introduced in the comics.

I'm still thinking we'll see in Iron Man 3 that it was an LMD or something.

I don't think it was anywhere close to perfection. Not as a movie. As a series of moment meant to cater to fans, sure. It was fun and people will Marvel at seeing these characters on screen in a shared universe for the first time.

It's called the Transformers Effect.

Once the initial lovefest is over, people will actually analyze it as a film, and in those respects, it's decent and nowhere near perfect.

Possibly, but I doubt it.

It must suck to never be able to enjoy any movie because it's not the next Citizen Kane. :-D

I've never bought an issue of a Hulk or Thor comic. I think Captain America is an average character. I don't really like the cap or Thor films.

This is a very good film. Very funny. I've never know an audience to get up and applaud a film till I saw this one. It did all it could for such a film. I did feel the first half an hour or so pacing of the film was off. I did think Samuel L Jackons character was poor. I don't think the bad guys were well developed.

But it's a very well directed action film, with enough emotional resonance and humour injected throughout to make it work very well.

I really enjoyed the Avengers. I also liked Waterworld, but that wasn't close to being perfect.

I don't have to completely lose perspective to enjoy a film. I like Avengers for what it is, a fun popcorn film. It doesn't mean it was a great movie or that I have to pretend it is to like it.

Ok, but nothing that you wrote there even suggests that the film you're talking about is "perfect".

Their identity has nothing to do with the plot. They could have been any alien race in there and it would have made no difference.

It was the Chitauri, the Ultimate Universe's Skrulls. Except they don't do any shapeshifting that we're aware of. They're seriously just cannon fodder.

That's what I feared. It makes no sense that they were this giant mystery through production. Anticlimactic.

Unfortunately, yes. I don't even mind if they just used the name and made them something else. But just being CGI fodder kinda sucked.

Even Loki as a bit of a henchman was something I didn't like.

It got people talking though, didn't it?

Makes perfect sense. It may be anticlimactic, but it helped build even more buzz about the movie.
