My Dog Did It Again!

This time he brought a young possum into the house, quite dead, and was going to sit in his dog bed and eat it. Fortunately, I got it before he could get everything messy, but I feel bad about the possum. :-(

Thing is, he just a medium size, incredibly cute Australian Cattle Dog, not some hunting breed, but he's death on little animals...

I know with cats when they bring a kill home it's like a gift, is it the same for dogs?

what specific breed? I have a blue heeler, who is very smart, but a huge pain in the butt.
