Captain America and Hawkeye #629 (Spoilers)

Postby Stephen Day » Tue May 01, 2012 12:49 am

So, this is the first issue of this series' new format.

It's a good start I'd say. The banter between Cap and Hawkeye doesn't always ring true when it comes to how I feel these two character should interact, but in the overall scheme of things it's something I can live with. As for the story itself, it has a fun b-movie style feel with the runaway science accidentally transforming humans into monster thing it has going. This is something I really like. :)

Kashmir Vennema seems like an interesting character. It's obvious she's up to something more than what we've seen so far. I can't wait to see what it is and where this story goes.

Thank you Troy for the sig

yup. It's sad to see a title with such a long history reduced to being a Marvel Team-up book.

In it's defense though, the new regular Cap book isn't much better.

1) i love Marvel Team-Up books, and doing one with Cap is fine by me as he's my second favorite Marvel hero

2) the regular Cap book is fucking great right now

1) Then start a Marvel-Up Team-up book featuring Cap. Don't screw with a long running title.

2) the regular cap book is nothing but a retelling of 70s and 80s Cap story-lines. I don't know about you, but I've already read these stories. Brubaker phoned it in these first 10 issues.

I was really enjoying espionage and grit Cap, and Old School Cap really isn't for me. I know we got Winter Soldier now, but honestly the off-screen 'death' in FI left a bad enough taste in my mouth that I'm trying to avoid any major Marvel titles because nothing is safe from being crossed over with something crappy. Hell even JiM is being lumped with New Mutants and The Shitey Thor in the coming months so that's my Marvel list all but gone now.

long-running? Cap's been restarted and renumbered like 6 times now. Cap & Bucky (which itself really began this team-up version) is only like 10 issues old. cry me a river if that's your argument.

a retelling of great 70s and 80s stories with modern tweaking and additions. exactly in my wheelhouse. :-D 8)

The current Cap series is great.

The Winter Soldier series is great.

Cap & Bucky was really, really great.

Fuck this third tier team up bullshit book, I'm not even going to to torrent it.
