Zenguru wrote:I can see some people "supporting" Alan Moore by avoiding these books. As if buying them will support DC's treatment of him. And by treatment, I mean allegedly screwing him out of any copyrights to the characters.

But these creators have, to my knowledge, nothing but respect for Moore. And if they can do the characters justice, why not? Otherwise, DC will find anyone else they can to do these books.

I don't think buying these books will be like saying "fuck you" to Alan Moore. Likewise, not buying them won't be saying the same to DC. I may wait for the trades and see if they're worth it then.

You mean other then JMS?

Personally I couldnt care less about all that nonsense. Like I said I didnt like the original so I wont be picking it up. I get why people liked the original at the time but meh its not very good, at least to me.

I know that a lot here hate on JMS...frankly, I have my own issues with his seeming inability to finish projects. But that said, I can't disagree with his stance on this. I don't think he's got a beef with Moore, but rather his hypocritical stance on using works created by others. And you can tell me until you're blue in the face about why Public Domain makes it that much different, but I'm not buying.

Fixed for accuracy. Didio is just a figurehead these days at DC. Kinda like a modern day Stan Lee.

I have no real interest other than a mild curiosity. If somebody gave them to me I'd probably read them, but I don't feel I'll be missing out on anything by not reading them. In a way, I hope these get amazing reviews and are considered must haves, then I'll seek out a trade or something.

I have not mass love for the original series but I enjoyed it. For BW it is more about the creative team than a revisit of the characters.

I'm buying it for sure. If for no other reason than to help push up sales. Just to watch the die hard fans have seizures. :-D

Sales are determined by orders placed by comic shops not actual comics purchased by customers. The actual sales numbers for BW have already been determined they just won't be announced for a couple of months.

But what happens if I go from shop to shop and buy like 4 extra copies from each store? Wouldn't that count at some point?

No, those comics have already been counted. I'm sure the shops would appreciate it though.

Well screw that. I'm not buying them to help the shops, I want to see Alan Moore turn in his grave.
