BEAVER, Pa. (AP) —Police say two teenage girls who fell asleep while sunbathing on a rural Pennsylvania road have been struck by a car. The Beaver County Police Department tells WTAE-TV (http://bit.ly/KoTXi9 ) that 13-year-olds Samantha Schermanhorn and Kaylie George were hit by the vehicle Sunday afternoon. Two of Samantha's cousins tell the station that their 19-year-old brother had stopped at a stop sign and made a turn before striking the girls with his car. Nicole and Nicholas Beck say the girls were conscious and told them that they had fallen asleep while suntanning. The cousins say their brother was questioned by police after the crash. The girls were airlifted to a hospital. Officials with the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh tell the station that the girls are in fair condition Sunday night.

Don't get me wrong... I hope they get better and everything, but that was INCREDIBLY stupid! If they'd died, they would be shoo-ins for the Darwin Awards!

And that dude's gonna be scarred for life...

See, I've been on some winding dirt roads in my day, where it would be tough to see something in the road until it's too late.

If he had just come to a stop then how fast could he possibly been going? So either he wasn't paying attention or he accelerated rapidly after the stop which would imply he was speeding.

Since he's nineteen years old, I'm betting he did the traditional peel out like an idiot maneuver that happens all the time near our apartment. On the other hand, it could have been some sort of blind intersection where visiblity was crap.

Either way, stupid girls are stupid.

Actually if you are turning a corner, it might be difficult to see something in the road.

Those poor girls though. After sunbathing, they were in "fair" condition.
