With this game being set in 2nd era the factions make no sense:

The Ebonheart Pact consists of Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians from the Northern and Eastern regions.
The Aldmeri Dominion consists of Altmer, Bosmer, and Khajiit from the South and South West regions.
The Daggerfall Covenant consists of Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs from the North West regions.

I can't see Nords teaming with Dnumer and Argonians. I don't understand why Khajit are part of the Aldmeri Dominion.

I started oblivion finally, so I'll know if this series is worth an MMO treatment in about 300 hours

The current iteration of the Aldmeri Dominion is allied with the Khajits, so that makes at least some sense. Elsweyr's political position almost literally changes with the phases of the moons, especially during the Second Era when the Mane had just come to power, so an alliance with the Elves makes a certain bit of sense.

I have a lot of trouble seeing Nords, Dunmer, and Argonians working together. There's too much animosity between the three groups for that to be at all stable. Of course, this is during the Interregnum, so anything is possible.

It's a totally different studio (Zenimax Online) developing it under a completely different engine creating a different type of game. No way to tell whether it will be buggy or not.

From what little has been shown, this is pretty much going to be WoW set in Tamriel. Pass.
