A zero? Holy crap man, it wasn't great, but it was nowhere near that bad. :smt011

Sure it was, this isn't the Special Olympics, I didn't get my copy for free as part of some focus group. Dial H for Hero is completely without merit because its so painfully derivative and unoriginal, from the gifted loser who wrestles with his "great responsibility" to the ode to "Shade" Skellington.

DC already paid the creative staff, why should I award them pity points? Why do you guys care if I gave it a 0 anyways? Its not like I'm flaming everyone who has a different opinion.

MMDV, c'est la vie.

It doesn't bother me that you have a different opinion than me. It's just that your zero is just so far out of whack from everyone else's ratings that it really stands out. :smt102

I mean, even that nincompoop Victorian Squid only gave it a 5. :P

I for one welcome the new blood.

We were getting tired of the same old Doombug blood all over the place.

DAN THE UNHARMABLE #1
Writer: David Lapham
Art: Rafael Ortiz
Eisner Award winning writer David Lapham delivers a fresh punch to the face with his new ongoing series about crime, family, and being a lazy, yet invulnerable, private detective. Dan is something of a hired man. Whatever one needs doing, be it detective work, muscle work, blackmail work, or bedroom work - Dan's your man. Dan’s not afraid of anything because Dan’s totally unharmable. You can beat him with sticks, stick him in the oven, throw him off a bridge, or shoot him in his noggin its all the same to Dan. He's never met an insult that bothered him or a person he cared about—at least for more than a night. Dan prefers not to be shackled down by worldly goods. He works for just enough dough to keep him in cigs and beer for a night or two, maybe a room, and he’s content. Dan's bohemian paradise is all about to change, however. You see, back before Dan was so unharmable he left a few loose ends. Now those loose ends are growing up and their mother's been murdered, which not only means that Dan has to solve his most personal case yet, he's now legally responsible for four human beings who are anything but unharmable.... Dan the Unharmable is a new ongoing series by noir legend, David Lapham featuring art by Rafael Ortiz.

DIAL H #1

This is an interesting read and a slight variation on the property. Our lead is a bit of a loser, putting his own life above everyone elses while drinking and smoking his life away. It's not that he's completely unlikable mind you, just that the way he's wrote especially during the changes is just a bit frantic and hard to follow.

Speaking of those changes, one of the more fun things about the HERO dial has always been the wide varieties of characters people turn into because of the dial and here is no different as we get 2 very different characters with 2 extremely different powers, the latter being played up in a much different way that is pretty funny in context.

The art is extremely beautiful and moody and something I enjoyed just staring at as I went panel to panel. The story on the other hand is extremely basic but leaves you with enough mystery that you're interested in checking out the next issue to see just where they're taking things.

Score: 7.5

Holy fucking pile a shit. This comic was truly awful. The art was bad and the story was weak enough to make me stop reading after 15 or so pages and truly, truly a mess of a comic. If the purpose of the nu 52 was to create some strange comics that will still be cancelled after 6 issues. If this was about quality then books like dial H wouldn't exist and it wont for more than 6 issues.
