It's too big, and would require a much bigger world of characters.
Even assuming we get an Ant Man, or Iron Fist, or a Doctor Strange movie or something between now and Avengers 2, or Avengers 3.. that's still not really enough to do the story justice.
The whole point of Civil War was the superhero registration act, and in the movies.. everyone knows Iron Man is Tony Stark. Everyone knows Captain America is Steve Rogers. Everyone knows Thor is a demigod.
Too few characters, and none of their identities are secret.
Exactly!

He likes to kill "beloved" characters, not random characters (which to movie audiences right now Maria is)
So Whedon is like Dan Didio then? Are they related?

Whedon is nothing like Didio. Whedon can actually write for one thing.

Thank you Troy for the sig

You do know that was sarcasm on my part, right? I actually like Whedon for the most part myself.

Exactly! Except for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I respect most of Whedon's material.

That was put out a few weeks ago on the Internet so I didn't leak anything. You can google it yourself if you don't believe me.
The point is that I (among others) don't want spoilers thrown in our face like that. Prior to watching the movie I had sworn off the Avengers Movie Thread just to be sure I didn't read or see anything more of the movie before it came out.
Now that I have seen the movie (twice), I will be by shortly to punch you in the balls.

"Too hard to hit"? Who knows, maybe he's a sharpshooter or something?

As the movie is just opening here, I'd still wait about a week or so before making untagged spoilers.
That said...
I don't necessarily think he's dead. It's the very definition of a "comic book death". Nick tells us the doctors called it and the Nick shows us the cards. Coulson wanted the team to come together. Nick used that. And we know (or think) Nick faked the cards. I was really expecting the final scene to show Coulson in witness protection or something.

Okay again just to clarify...It wasn't that their wasn't any spoiler tags or the blackout feature wasn't used. When you first made the thread you put the damn spoiler in the TITLE of the thread!!!! I have enough sense to not to open a thread if I know or suspect that there may be spoilers contained within, but when the spoiler is contained within the TITLE OF THE THREAD there is no avoiding it. That was my complaint.
