The kid never saw Hunger Games because, despite the fact his mother loved the books, ain't no way on earth she's gonna let her kid read or see some shit about kids being killed for sport.
And by the time the Brave trailer finally came on, he was well and truly pissed off with the concept of previews. His interest in it did not survive beyond "from the makers of Wall-E". This is probably because that particular trailer focused on a bunch of shit little boys would find boring. Her cool archery skills took a back seat to family humor bullshit, in other words. Since it was a Pixar movie that did not feature talking cars, talking toys, talking sharks, robots (that sorta talk) or a rat that cooks, I'm not even sure Brave is anywhere on the kid's radar.
It's also probably because, before we had to sit through a half hour of previews, we had to sit through a half hour of goddamn advertisements and near constant reminders to turn your cell phones the fuck off. This left him...ah...impatient
, shall we say.
If I had given the boy one of my knives, he could have easily stabbed a path of rage right through the crowd and the wall to the projection booth.
