Infinity Gauntlet - Why the fond memories?

Postby TimDrake'sDumbWings » Tue May 08, 2012 9:23 pm

I'm currently making my way through Infinity Gauntlet. So far, not impressed, but things seem to be picking up. I'm 2 issues in, and my impression so far is that it's about 20 pages of boring shit and exposition that seems to be explaining shit that happened in some other book, followed by 4 pages of Thanos being fucking awesome. If we can increase the ratio of Thanos being awesome to boring shit, I'm going to be happy.

I often hear people citing this as a favorite, though. If it's a favorite of yours, what did you enjoy? It seems like the badass Thanos moments and the Perez art are the main selling points of the book.

Your mistake is judging it after 2 issues.

Does it get better? It seems like it's ramping up for some action.

I'm 24 and remember reading pieces of it as a little kid, reread it in that nice beautiful hardcover recently and fucking loved it.

It's truly Starlin at his best and seriously has one of THE best Captain America moments of all time.

I never really cared for it myself (especially when Lim took over on art). Never really bothered with War or Crusade because Gauntlet ended up being underwhelming.

Infinity Gauntlet was my first Secret Wars II

Still haven't read the full SW II.

This is the book that got me interested in comics that weren't G.I. Joe.

Infinity Gauntlet is one of my most favoritest comics evar!

For me it's Issue 4. One of the single coolest comics I ever read as a kid. The entire series was good but that issue was perfect.

Believe it or not there once was a time when superhero crossover mega-events were rare. Infinity Gauntlet comes from that time.

It's better if you have the deluxe one shot that has Thanos collecting the Gems. I think it was called Infinity Quest. It really should have been part of the trades and collections.
