I Owe Someone An Apology

Postby Benderbrau » Wed May 09, 2012 1:02 pm

…to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The first time I caught it on TV was a few years ago and in the scene I came across one of the characters was making some stupid cartoony expression (in hindsight I think it was Aang) and someone else rambling on nonsensically (Sokka in all likelihood). I admittedly judged it as being typical anime crap with characters forming single giant tears on their face and falling out of non-existance chairs while spouting pages of stupid exposition at every opportunity and quickly turned it off.

Recently however it was on TV again and even though I had no real urge to watch it I was really bored so I toughed it out and learned that those cartoony reactions are few and far between and Sokka’s rambling while not by any means infrequent is as annoying to the other characters as it is to the viewers. I also learned that this show is fucking AWESOME! The story is intense and the episodes addictive. It has also the detail of an anime but with none of the frozen frame tricks or bad dialog common in so many.

So I’m sorry Avatar, I misjudged you. You are by far one of my favorite cartoons ever .

What, you thought this thread was going to be about one of you bag of dicks? Fat chance! :smt005

Yeah, misleading thread title.

1. Could be the whole bag
2. Aang is a someone. Aang is the Avatar. Ergo Avatar is a someone.

Haven't watched it yet. Wiki'd it. Sounds interesting. Also, watched the youTube clip from ep 4 when Korra has a backflash and you get to see Aang, Sokka and Toph as adults. Aang with a beard strap was kinda weird.

I'd imagine you owe many people apologies.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I had a similar experience with Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The first time I watched it, it was some silly dipshit scene with the characters doing silly dipshit stuff. I filed it away under "shit that only kids will enjoy" and changed the channel.

I ended up catching it a few months later, and loved the story. Loved the action and the combat. I was hooked from that moment on. And because i jumped on right towards the end of the first season, I was able to catch almost every episode in one of those rerun marathons they frequently did, instead of having to wait every week for a new ep.
