The ability to free-run through buildings and opens rooms is a welcome addition indeed.
But there's just something about this game that feels...I dunno...off. I can't really pin it down...
I kinda lost my interest in this franchise after AC2. I liked Ezio and he was a popular character, but I felt like his story was pretty much done. Time to move on to history's next great Assassin. But just so, I wonder that the franchise can survive on the back of a new character who is not Ezio. I mean, Ezio was responsible for really carrying the franchise. Altair was ratrher bland in comparison. And while it is necessary to the base premise of the series, I don't know if this new Assassin's character and personality will be a match for Ezio; if he can generate the love for the franchise that Ezio did.
I gotta admit sharing some of Bender's misgivings. The mechanics of the first two games were a big turn-off for me, and I was much more interested in the story than in playing the game. I'd like to see the story of the Assassins continue throughout history and into the future, but I'm not so enthusiastic about picking up the games to do so.

And now and then stab, as occasion serves."
