Title: I'm like Atrocitus at times

I have finally been broken by Chap/Jack...

Postby ElijahSnowFan » Fri May 11, 2012 7:50 pm

...for the last few years, I've seen Chap raving about Justice League: Generation Lost. Then today, I just saw that Jack Burton gave it the thumbs-up, as well.

I've ignored such talk, because damn it, Judd Winick has burned me too many times. And make no mistake: I know what Judd Winick is. When he's good, he's very, very good. When he isn't...ugh. As in, he makes me want to throw shit. That's always been my frustration with Winick: His talent dictates that he should be on the short list of best writers EVER. That guy can write. He can. That's why it pisses me off so bad when he mails it in. Nobody with his talent should be as bad as he has been at times.

But finally...I've been broken. I'm so desperate for anything resembling a good Justice League story, something where I can even pretend that, one day, I might one day read a good Justice League set of stories again, I'm going to buy this series and read every single one of them.

DC has driven me to this. This is what DC has driven me to: DCNu Justice League is so damn awful, I'm going to go purchase a maxi-series that is no longer in continuity written by a writer who terrifies me when he's off, based on the recommendations of people I've "met" on the internet. Think about that for a second. Think about how bad the current book must be, for me to do what I'm about to do.

Chap/Jack: You'd better be right. Because I'm starving for something JL-related that is even remotely comprehensible.

I hope they are right.

Then you can think about the current Justice League International.

I'm no DC fan but Jude talked me into getting it and it was indeed an awesome tale.

It is very good, Judd was on his A game for this series.

I love the 6th issue. It's one of my favorite single issues of the last few years.

This is not anything you will regret. The series is fantastic from start to finish.

Trust me if you have any affection for the JLI or hell superhero team books you'll like this. Best DC work Winnick's ever done.

Yeah, I'm still glad you selected it. Exposed me to a book I would never have otherwise given a chance.

Actually, you might regret it b/c it will make you that much sadder thinking just how terrible the current JL books are by comparison, and might possibly give you a brain aneurysm from wondering why the fuck DC included a JLI book in their reboot and for some completely unfathomable reason didn't give it to Winick.

But no, the story itself is tremendous.

:-D

I don't read much DC, so if I like something they do, you know it's based on quality rather than nonsensical DC fanboyism.

It's Typical Slipshod Winick "Writing" garbage.
Especially if you like the REAL, NON-villainous Max Lord, and NON-Gypsy-thief-stereotype Ice.

Like I told someone else recently, listen to your Spidey-Sense, and avoid it.

You may not know the 'why', but this really made me laugh. Thanks.

I bought the first issue of it on a whim and read it all the way till the end. It was a really fun book.
