Hi, as I posted recently on another post I'm a newbie when it comes to Marvel. I'm a little unsure where I should start. Should I grab Ultimate Comics or stuff from the 616 Universe. I know that the Ultimate universe is a re-imagination of some characters and more updated, but 616 is the original characters. Where should I start? Is one better than the other?

The original universe is better but it's also been going in since 1963. If you don't mind not getting every single story and detail than the Marvel universe is better. If you want everything than the Ultimate universe is better.

I'm not against reading both. I'm just new comic book reader and I'm not sure where to start.

Treat them as seperate worlds.

Again there were some very good stories in the Ultimate universe. Then Jeph Loeb decided to fuck it up and currently the universe is crap.

Short version: read Ultimate 1 and and 2 trades (they're awesome) and then stop. Anything after that is a dud.

For 616 start from the stuff we recommended in the other thread and go forward from there. Not sure about things characters say or reference from the past? Ask here or read Wikipedia. Never doubt the power of Wikipedia. It has shit loads of backstory documented.
